1. Why do you say Ski Skoot is a "safer" scooter?
First, the Ski Skoot scooter has a special "forward-facing" rear brake with extra stopping power. No other scooter brand has that type of brake. The extra stopping power helps kids slow down and stop easier if they ride too fast, so they don't lose control, fall off their scooter, and hurt themselves on the pavement.
Second, we have added a safety locking pin on the scooter handle tube. This prevents the scooter handlebars from unexpectedly collapsing downward when kids are riding their scooter. It helps kids maintain better steering control, so they don't crash on the pavement.
Third, it's important that the scooter handle tube be locked tight in the upright position when kids are riding their scooter. We have added a quick-release locking arm on the side of our folding mechanism to give the scooter handle tube more rigidity when in use, again for greater steering control.
Fourth, our scooter has a thicker, heavier deck for more toughness and durability.
Fifth, we have added an extra-large rear wheelie bar (mounted behind the brake) for a safer ride. It's standard equipment on our scooter. Wheelie bars on other scooter brands cost you $10 extra.

2. Why do you say Ski Skoot is a "healthier" scooter?
Because it's the only scooter brand that kids can ride in the snow in winter to get more outdoor exercise, when other scooter brands have to go in the garage. It's "all-season, all-weather." Kids can ride their Ski Skoot scooter (with optional "wheels-to-skis" snap-on snow ski attachment for the scooter) to "kick-and-glide" up and down their street in winter for fun and exercise. They don't even need a hill. Even sleds and saucers can't do that on the street.

3. Will kids outgrow their Ski Skoot scooter as they get older?
No, they won’t, unlike other scooter brands.
That's because the Ski Skoot scooter has taller handlebars (36") than other scooter brands, although they can adjust lower for shorter riders.
The Ski Skoot scooter also carries more rider weight (220 lbs.) than even the leading brand (143 lbs.).
So kids won't outgrow it as they get older and heavier.

4. Is the Ski Skoot "wheels-to-skis" snap-on snow ski attachment for the scooter safe to ride?
Yes, so long as you follow our published Product Safety Guidelines. The oversized, spring-loaded rear foot brake that we installed on the snow ski attachment allows any rider to slow down, control their speed, or stop themselves in the snow, even going downhill.

5. Who designed the Ski Skoot snap-on snow ski attachment?
Two mechanical engineers from the University of Washington who now work at a U.S. national engineering laboratory. They are shareholders in our company and design new products for us.

6. Why do you say that the Ski Skoot snap-on snow ski attachment "glides" across the snow?
Because it is made from a very slick, very tough plastic called HDPE (high-density polyethylene). Even with adult riders and no ski wax, we have found that one kick in most snow conditions will propel the rider several feet over flat snowy ground before another kick is needed. The degree of "kick-and-glide" will depend upon both snow conditions and the rider's weight. Ski wax is not necessary.

7. Can I take the Ski Skoot snap-on snow ski attachment up the chairlifts at ski resorts?
Each ski resort will have a different policy on that. Some will say "no," others may say "yes." At one time, ski resorts did not allow snowboards up the mountain, either. Some ski resorts have special "snowparks" where you may be allowed to ride the Ski Skoot snap-on snow ski attachment. At the very least, you can ride it on the small hills and slopes that typically surround the ski resort village or lodge, or at the bottom of ski runs once they have closed for the day. Remember, you don't need to go up the mountain to ride the Ski Skoot snap-on snow ski attachment, so you can save money on lift tickets. DO NOT ride the Ski Skoot snap-on snow ski attachment on steep hills or terrain, only on gentle slopes.

8. How should I care for my Ski Skoot snap-on snow ski attachment?
For care and maintenance purposes, you can apply a water-resistant sealant into the rivet holes on the underside of the front piece of the Ski Skoot snap-on snow ski attachment BEFORE you first use it in the snow. Try ski wax (dry, not hot), waterproof caulk, or silicone sealant. Those rivets have an anti-corrosion material from the factory, but it can get scraped off by snow, ice, pavement, etc. while riding the Ski Skoot snap-on snow ski attachment. If left bare, those rivets will develop rust spots. Wax or other sealant should then be applied periodically into those rivet holes to keep your Ski Skoot snap-on snow ski attachment looking like new.

9. Will using the Ski Skoot snap-on snow ski attachment in the snow hurt my scooter's wheel bearings?
No, not according to our own field tests in the snow, nor have we ever received any reports of that kind. Kids can ride their scooters in the rain without any problems. Snow doesn't hurt the scooter's wheel bearings, either.

10. Will the Ski Skoot snap-on snow ski attachment work with any other scooter brand?
It is not intended to, and we don't recommend it. The Ski Skoot snap-on snow ski attachment is intended to work exclusively with the Ski Skoot scooter. ONE EXCEPTION: Our snow ski attachment will also retrofit the Original classic Razor scooter, which is NOT sold in stores anymore (i.e., the first Razor model, sold from 1998 - 2002). It will NOT retrofit any other Razor models, or any other scooter brands.

11. Why didn't you make the Ski Skoot snap-on snow ski attachment compatible with other scooter brands?
Because every scooter make/model is shaped and constructed differently. Our engineers examined a number of different scooters, and concluded that it was not possible to build a snow ski attachment that would snap and hold tightly and securely onto every scooter. We were concerned about rider safety. For obvious reasons, we did not want the snow ski attachment to pop off the scooter while in use.
